Contentnea Health Board of Directors Chairwoman Brooke Andrews delivered the oath of office to Stephen Kearney of Greene County on Tuesday. He is the newest member of the Board.

Mr. Kearney indicated in his letter of interest that he is “deeply committed to supporting the health and well-being of our local community and believe that strong, community-rooted leadership is essential to ensuring accessible and effective care for all.”

A Greene County native, Mr. Kearney is active in the community.

He has worked at First Citizens Bank for more than 18 years – 16 of which involved working closely with the farm and agribusiness community. He believes that through that work and relationships within the local agricultural community, he has had the opportunity to work closely with farmers whose employees rely on the services of community health centers, including Contentnea Health.

“This experience has helped give me an understanding of the unique healthcare challenges faced by agricultural workers and their families, including access to care, language and cultural considerations, and the importance of trusted community partnerships,” Mr. Kearney said in his letter.

He has also served as a volunteer firefighter for more than 20 years and was previously a certified EMT. “Responding to medical and first-responder calls throughout our county has given me a strong understanding of the health challenges affecting our community.”

Welcome to Stephen Kearney!
