Dr. Kassie Johnson joins Greene County Health Care

She’ll serve as associate medical director, family medicine doctor

Greene County Health Care welcomes Dr. Kassie Johnson as the organization’s associate medical director and a family medicine physician.

Dr. Johnson will serve Greene County Health Care (GCHC) through its Greenville office – James D. Bernstein Community Health Center.

As associate medical director, Dr. Johnson is responsible for creating a clinical environment focused on delivering the appropriate level of care to the patient when and where they

need the care. She also supports the administrative functions of the medical staff at GCHC. As a family medicine physician, Dr. Johnson provides care to the entire family.

Dr. Johnson has practiced family medicine and primary care sports medicine for five years in San Antonio, Texas.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in nutritional science from The University of Texas in Austin, Texas, and her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. Dr. Johnson completed her residency in Family Medicine at the Department of Family and Community Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She also served as chief resident. Dr. Johnson completed her fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Christus Santa Rosa, San Antonio.

“I’m looking forward to working with what I understand is a knowledgeable group of providers and staff – all of whom live to serve their community,” Dr. Johnson says. “I’m eager to learn the Greenville area and to start meeting the needs of our community.”

In her free time, Dr. Johnson enjoys spending time with her family – husband Michael and sons, Kamden, 5, Mason, 4, and Logan, 16 months – and their two dogs. She also enjoys hiking, camping, jogging, geocaching, music, reading, and all sports, especially basketball and baseball/softball.

Greene County Health Care (GCHC) is a community health center with sites in Greene, Pitt and Pamlico counties. GCHC accepts most insurance and offers care on a sliding fee scale to patients who qualify.
